Minicats build Relationships

Here at Minnie Hughes, building long-lasting relationships matters. These relationships help students to build the self-efficacy skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Every classroom begins and ends with a circle. These circles help students to learn skills like perseverance, assertiveness, and how to remain focused during challenging activities.

MHES Kaleidoscope Program

Students attending Minnie Hughes have the opportunity to participate in the 21st Century After School Learning Center.  In the afterschool program, students have the option to participate in dance, karate, tumbling, running club and the reading club. This program gives students a chance to practice what they are learning in school. Programs like this provide enrichment so that students are engaged and on task even after school is out!

Minicats "Unlock Potential"

We know that we all bring different passions, gifts, strengths, and weaknesses to the table. However, the power of our school lies within the family culture that we create. It is the story that we create when we come together and change the narrative. We collaborate until we find the answer.

We are ONE family that operates like a key to "Unlock the Potential" of our students. We work together to encourage students, teachers, and parents to unlock their potential and set goals for the year ahead.

From the perspective of a previous Minicat and a current educator, I love how Minnie Hughes has a warm atmosphere that embraces & cultivates our shared Gullah-Geechie culture. There's no other place that gives me the sense of belonging that Minnie Hughes does & for that, I am forever grateful to be part of this family.2024 Rookie Teacher of the Year, Ms. Zataya Rivenbark
