What is PTA?
PTA comprises nearly 6 million parents and other concerned adults devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of parental involvement in schools.
PTA is a nonprofit organization that prides itself on being a powerful advocate for ALL children, a relevant source for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Membership in PTA is open to anyone who is concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

Who Benefits from PTA?
EVERYONE! Minnie Hughes PTA advocates for ALL MHES students. Not just children of members and volunteers. Every MHES student reaps the tremendous benefits of PTA.

I don't have time to volunteer, should I still join?
YES! Joining the Minnie Hughes PTA will not commit you to long hours of volunteering.
Joining PTA is simply a statement that you support what the PTA does here at Minnie Hughes on behalf of the students.

PTA Purposes: Historical goals of PTA
  • To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
  • To raise the standards of home life.
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
  • To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
  • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
